The history of the firm started in 1902 When Zeb Turlington opened his law practice in Mooresville. For over 60 years Mr. Turlington became highly respected among his peers in Iredell County as well as the state. Mr. Turlington authored the "Turlington Act" for the North Carolina General Assembly in 1923. This act as amended through the years is the foundation of North Carolina's present alcoholic beverage Laws. For nearly six decades Mr. Turlington was the attorney for the Town of Mooresville and traveled by rail to Statesville for County Business.

William R. Pope joined Mr. Turlington in the law practice in the late 1940's. Mr. Pope served as Mooresville's Town attorney for nearly four decades. Although Mr. Pope has retired from the practice of law he still maintains an office in downtown Mooresville.
